    Hi All,
    I just bought a Canon 350D.
When i start the camera the LCD display doesnt start, i am having to
    use the viewfinder which is
frustating.Unfortunately i have a german handbook and it is of no help.
I checked all the menu options, but no where i get to see the option to
    start the LCD viewer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

The LCD display doesn't work as a viewfinder on a DSLR, mainly because the
mirror is in the way of the sensor.

    And the shutter curtains, too.

As far as I know, the 20Da is the only Canon DSLR with LCD preview -
although that does require mirror lock-up - and you pay handsomely for it.

    Cheers,

  5. The LCD doesn't show anything until you have taken a photo.
It should then show the photo you have just taken.
    If it stays dark then:
    - press the MENU button
    - use the cursor keys (around the SET button) to select the Blue/White Arrow
    tab
    - Select Review Time and set it to something other than OFF.

You should then see your picture.

Alternatively (and more simply!) take a photo then:
    - press the Blue Arrow button which is on the left of the LCD screen.

You should then see the photo you;ve just taken.

You'll start to appreciate the view finder when you:
    - are taking photos in bright light which would obscure the LCD or
    - are using a long lens which would make the camera a little
hard to hold at arm's length (as yoiu would if using the LCD).

    Regards, Ian.
