Canon EF 75-300mm USM III Lens

  1. Anyone with experience with this lens, reviews seem to mixed.

For sports photography was looking for something up to 300mm, have been
using the 55-200mm not sure how it compares to the 75-300 III. I have
borrowed the 70-200 f2.8 and it craps all over the quality of the 55-200
as you would expect, but I am looking for something with a bit extra
zoom when I need it instead of forking out for a high end L Series lens.
    What do other brands offer.

Will be getting a 70-200 f2.8 when the funds are there, just have bought
the 24-70 f2.8, but want something to go that extra bit when needed on
the non expensive side of things.

  2. Sigma have a 28-300 as well, its will also double as a multipurpose lens
without having to carry the 70-200 around everywhere.

not in the same league as the likes of th 2.8..... but very fair
comment. once you get the 70-200/2.8 a mega-zoom lens such as the 28-300
will serve as a great travel lens.

another lens worth looking at as a mid performance lenes (when camparing
the likes of the 55-200 with the 70-300ef) would be the 70-300 IS lens.
image stabalisation would also come in handy, and the glass is pretty
    good (though not L quality)

  4. Whats the views on the 28-300 Sigma?...I am not interested in IS, I
shoot highspeed and its a burden and a waste for 99.9% of what I
do...definetly not worth it to fork out the extra $ for.
