Arguably large and powerful in its field, but needing a kick in the
ass in order to keep them moving. Hence, Canon's answer to Nikon's
Nano-coating. A bit late in the day, but better than 30 year old tech
    on their present lenses.

    From Dpreview:
The lenses also utilize its new 'Sub-Wavelength Structure Coating',
which is designed to reduce flare and ghosting dramatically in lenses
that contain large curve-radius elements - most notably wideangles.
