Canon rep on digital EOS3...

Discussion in 'Canon' started by Robert McArthur, Aug 4, 2003.

  1. We had a rep from Canon to our local digital camera group tonight.
I asked the straight question "will there be a digital EOS 3 in the
next while (three months)". A: "No. But there *is* something
really really interesting on it's way. I've visited Japan and there's
something *very* good coming". Very excited he was, and
    would (obviously) say nothing more.

Take it. Leave it. Whatever. I found it interesting because the
reason I asked was to decide whether I should be interested
in the 10D or an EOS3 in a couple of months time. I'll also
be interested to know how much to trust them next time
    something is said!

(BTW. there are fewer bits harmed in pressing Delete than in
writing a scathing reply on why this post was useless :)

ooh ooh like a full-frame dslr based on the 3?
for half the price of the 1Ds?

that would almost be worth switching to canon for...;)

    No voice annotation ;-)

From my reading of the tea-leaves (much more accurate than
dpreview forums), it may be the sub-$1000 digital Rebel.
Canon trying to lure people into the horrible tarpit of buying
    lenses for DSLRs...:)

  4. that would be "the pope" down in melbourne, a glamour shooter. and yes his
previous tips have been right on the money, many months before products are
    officially announced.

i think the 3D is the camera for me (Hey, it rhymes!)

i would expect it to RRPfor around $6000 down here (say $5250 street price)
but it might even be mid $4000 as the 10D is already hitting $2700

  5. damn, 20D??? that means it's lower-spec than the 10D i assume. is it, in
effect, the camera we thought would be called the "300D" (digital version of
    the loooooow end silver body)?

cmon canon, what we *actually* want is a 3D!!!

  6. while that would be good....

what I want is a 1Ds with a Digic Engine and a LCD review that works the
    same way as the 10D's....

A mate I shoot with has the 1Ds and he plays with my 10D controls and says
"I wish my 1Ds worked like this"..... makes me feel good.... right up 'till
we get home and review his images and the MASSIVE amount of detail that the
    1Ds resolves. :-(
