Just starting out at the bottom. Want to convert old 8mm analog tapes
    to DVD.
Nothing real fancy. I have a Dell 8300 2.8ghz with 1g of ram and 2
120g hard drives. I have sorta narrowed the choices down to the 2
mentioned above. I don't have a 1394 card so either one of the above
will give me that. I don't own a DV camcorder and don't plan on one
    quit a while.
One of the pluses for the Canopus product is the synced audio? Is that
much of a problem with entry level "stuff"? However, the Canopus also
    costs about $70.00 more.
Any thoughs would be appreciated. Thanks Ron

Ron - spend the $70 extra. You WON'T regret it.

That's the sum of lurking here since the mid-90s. I won't make a complex
case, just take it from the old timers - that $70 will be among the best you
    ever spent!

See another thread just a few posts up in this NG on audio synch. You can
keep your hair and its colour, and the kit will work well. The alternative
has been a bloodbath for many, but not ALL. They have had just enough
    successes to stay in business.
