    Hi,

I use a Powerbook with not that many GB harddisk space.
However, I do have an external disk and want iPhoto to
use that disk as its default place where it puts away
my new imported pics. I can't change it in the preferences,
I asked a guy here at the local Apple dealer and he said
he thinks it just isn't possible.

    Anyone?

    Thanx in advance,

I don't know how to change the default location for imported photos, but
have you considered creating multiple iPhoto libraries as a workaround?

The iTunes Help guide tells how to create multiple libraries and switch
between them. You could create a second library and import into that,
then move the library with the imports to the external hard drive. By
following the directions in the Help guide you can be sure there is
still a properly named Photo Library in it's proper location as required
    for iPhoto to function.

I haven't tried this, but apparently, once the second library is
installed on the external hard drive, you can open that and do your
    import, I'm guessing???
