Chroma key - software for stills ?

Discussion in 'Australia Photography' started by John Fitzsimons, Nov 7, 2005.

  1. Has anyone here come across any chroma key software for still
photography ? Most sites seem to talk about it in a video setup.

My main interest is using it in a studio type environment.

    Regards, John.

yep! masks in any decent image editing software (ie photoshop)
after all, why do you need chroma key specifically when you can simply
lift the objet from the image?!?

A good key is far more than a deep etch. Capturing translucent edges and
hair without getting colour fringing is quite difficult without the right
software. I've used a fair bit of motion keying software (After Effects,
Combustion, Flame, Ultimatte, Primatte) but I've never seen anything like
them for stills. Of course, you can apply the same tools to still images,
    but they're all rather expensive.
