    I recently acquired a Minolta x-700 with a very nice 50mm f1.2 lens.

Only problem is a cosmetic one. The White lettering on both lens and
camera have yellowed (former owner a smoker??)

I was thinking of trying q-tips with a bleach solution to whiten
things up, but I don't want to make an even bigger mess.

Anybody successfully dealt with this condition?

    Regards, Al.

Q-tips and Windex will usually do the trick.

No, but I've often needed to clean equally delicate things.
My advice would be to start with window cleaner & move up to alcohol, if
required. Either of those should remove tobacco stains.

Yes. Use a q-tip and a mild, non abrasive detergent.

Go gently, and make sure that you don't let liquid get into the lens.
