I have four rolls of 8mm film. These rolls are about 25 years old and they are films of the kids when little. Can they be transferred to other media, DVD for example? Also, what is it likely to cost? Each roll is 400 feet long. I'm in UK and would appreciate any links to useful websites. Thanks in advance.

Izaak: Just enter the words "convert 8mm DVD" in a search engine and you
will no doubt find many of them. Yes it can be done, most photography
stores either do it or know someone that does. Can't help you here in the
states more than that, but it is a rather common thing to have done. Ric in
    Wisconsin.

  5. As an example, I recently had a 400 foot roll of edited 8mm transferred
to MiniDV tape by a local lab that advertised in the phone book. They
did a good job at a reasonable price. I then loaded the miniDV into my
camcorder and attached it to my eMac, loaded it into iMovie, edited it,
did the new titles, and burned a DVD using iDVD. I then wrote the
iMovie out to a new miniDV so I now have the original 8mm film, the raw
transfer, and my edited transfer to make further DVDs from if I wish.
