Converting a few AVI lecture videos into mp3 audio only?

    I have a few lecture videos that I would like to convert into mp3
    audio. As they are lectures the video itself is redundant. I would like
    them to be mp3 so I can put them on my little player and listen to them
    on headphones while I do other stuff.

    Does you guys know how to do this, preferably with virtualdub?

    Many thanks and regards.

    For MP3 think "Audacity" and the Lame MP3 codec/encoder,
    both free. Just open the AVI file with Audacity and it will extract
    the audio then "Export as MP3". For a voice lecture you might
    want to go into "Preferences" "File Formats" tab and change the
    "MP3 Export Setup" "Bit Rate:" setting to a lower rate.

    Luck;

    I believe you can just render out the audio in virtualdub. Think you get
    a wav file, but thats easy enough to covert.
