Bizarre occurance, and I have no idea what to do about it:

I had an mpg file that was about 10 minutes long. Then I copied it to
a different drive, and somehow it got corrupted, but in a very strange
    way.

I believe all the data is still there (video, sound), but now it
claims to be about 15 seconds long. If you start it, the first 15
seconds will play, and then it stops. If you jump to a random point,
it will play the part of the video it would play if the bar you
clicked on was scaled to 10 minutes, but then still play only a few
seconds. Meaning, if you clicked on the middle of the bar, it would
play what you would expect about 5 minutes in, but only about 7-8
seconds worth before thinking it was done.

I've tried opening it in various viewers and utilities (include
Microsoft Movie Maker, Adobe Premiere, etc.) and even saving or
exporting it in different formats, but it doesn't help.

How did the clip's time length get corrupted and appear to be 15
seconds without actually truncating the clip? Its still the same
size, and if you jump in the middle, you see the middle of the ten
minute clip, so that data's there.

And how can I fix the clip or retrieve the image/sound data so I can
    watch the whole thing again?
