Was browsing in NikonOnBroadway site and found that selling price for the
    D2h body only is $6000ish !!

We does every geek with a browser feel obligated to announce prices on the
web in a photo newsgroup. Its pathetic.

Well, probably because it's a camera, it's new, they are suggesting
that it is a good price, a lot of people are interested, etc.

You can tell when they're going to suggest a price by looking at the
title. This way, you can avoid opening them if you dont care about
    that camera/price.

If it was hard to get and someone wanted it then fair enough but it is a
mass-produced pile of crap that goes down in price every month. Its
    pathetic.

  5. pathetic? pot... kettle... black!
it's a frickin' photo newsgroup and it's a new camera model, pricing
previously unknown. that qualifies as "news" for the vast majority of
    readers. sheeeeeeeeet neeeegro

The price goes down every month.......... you really must have a hopeless
life if prices pass for news.

Well, you can make that judgement if you wish. Almost all cameras
produced today are mass produced piles of crap. As I said, the title
will help you to avoid reading them.

Well, initially it probably will be hard to get. Yes there will be people
that want it. Yes it is mass produced. No it is not a pile of crap - have
    you used one have you?
There's certainly something pathetic but it's not the original post or the
    d2h.

Thats bizarre. I have a friend who works at a camera store and their *cost*
    price is around $6200.

Anyway, I'll probably grab one. I'm just waiting on the specs of the D2x
    first.

    Cheers

    Oh do you think
    a) I cant buy it cheaper
    b) I cant get one ?

You should must be a medal winning public service hero because you can
support the announcement of a web-published price in a newsgroup.

    Gavin,

I think you'll find that $6078 is right on cost. B&H are doing some
crazy things at the moment - I looked at a Nikkor lens and had the
price begrudgingly matched to that at B&H and was advised that it was
cost. I'm not sure if they're really desperate or what. I guess on big
ticket items it's no big drama cos they claim the GST back at the end
of each quarter with BAS and there's $600. Certainly good to see them
doing this sort of thing though. I think Australia will benefit from it
    in terms of global pricing.

And you must be as dense as a brick because you have nothing better to do
than make ridicoulous snide comments to anyone that posts.

You must spend hours a day just posting useless junk to this newsgroup,
perhaps it is your life that is hopeless.

    Anything you say sir :)

I found the price amazing considering the price is almost near to the Japan
    and US market price.
+ we don't have to paralel import them ... so good for ppl in Maxwell :)

btw there's a rumour for the Rugby World Cup, 80 units was sold to the
    prefered list ...
maybe I need to go down to the press room just to see them :)

Where did you get the D2H from for AUS$5K?? Pretty good deal I reckon...

What is better about the 1D?? Remember the D2H is not deigned to be a full
frame portrait/commercial/wedding camera, nor is it designed to be a lower
priced alternative like the 10D or a cheaper prosumer body like the 300D.
It is really designed ground-up for press/sports photographers (just like
the 1D). So it is with the 1D that it should be compared...

see what nikon does now ,canon released the 300d ,what will nikon do
