are starting to appear (from a leaked Nikon pdf brochure), and it all but
seems the D100 (which I just bought!), hardly has much over it at all.

reported 3fps 20 frame buffer, most of the D100 features (only seems a few
sync connection differences and no grip option), but 1/500 flash sync and
1/8000 shutter, and iTTL to name a few improvements.

Its got a metering mode button (matrix, centre weighted, spot), but I am yet
to confirm if all most are available in all exposure program modes.

They had better update the D100 soon, I'm wondering if a D70 would be a good
backup for the D100, or the D100 a backup to the D70...

There could be some killer feature disabled (like really bad RAW) or
something yet (brochures don't often tell you what you can't do...), but it
looks like it might just be no grip, less sync connectors, and no threaded
    cable release, otherwise all good...

i doubt **very** much it will have a 20-shot buffer... you're not referring
to the pathetically obvious fake brochure that is circulating are you?

also 1/500 sync is better than the D2H can muster, and 1/8000 shutter is a
    pro-body spec, not entry level.

How do you expect coffee shops to make a living if people can't navel gaze
    whilst drinking latte.

it turns out those specs are being trumpeted by thom hogan, a fairly widely
respected nikon guy so perhaps they are accurate... if so that's pretty
impressive for a 300D competitor- 20 frame buffer! noooooice.

But how many frames /sec? if the drive slows thus allows the
    card/buffer to keep pace.

Thom has since removed the file from his website. Did anyone happen to
save a copy so I can have a squiz?

    I have my own version.

    D70 Plus

    * 4 terrabyte in-built memory
    * Dual 90 Gigapixel CMYK 3D triple sampling sensor
    * constant frame buffer, keeps shooting at 26fps unless switched off
    * size of a sugar cube comes in a cuticle attachment or sunglasses mount
    * 5 lens rotating turret, with every zoom from 1mm to 2500mm at f1.2
    * laser focus to within half a micron
    * direct coupling for your optic nerve

No need for chimping, just wiggle your nose to review.
