Why is Nikon forcing "Maurice Blanchard" to switch to Movie Mode on
    Nikon D90 camera? How cruel!

Compared to consumer level cams, I am sure the D90 will be far better.
Personal experience tells me that the 640*480 res movie taken on an
Canon s3is is far better than the 720*576 res movie taken on a
Panasonic gs57. I guess the optics and autofocus grants the Canon s3is
    the edge.

What interests me about the movie mode in the D90 is how it will
effect the sensor's life. Since an hour's movie, will result in 25
    (fps) * 3600 (seconds/hour) = 90000 frames, the sensor will be worn
out faster than other DSLRs without movie mode. Any opinions on this?

sensors don't wear out. the shutter will probably be the first thing
to fail, although if you use it for movies, there won't be much shutter
action, so it should last a while.

I would imagine burnt pixels would be a function of usage. So movie
taking will impact the sensor in that way.
