Ignore me. Just realised it was back to "deposit".

now now now ... that's quite unnecessary ..

be thankful that he's willing to let you know when he finds specials ..
granted this was an error .. but imagine if it hadn't been )

If you go to www.dirtcheapcameras.com.au right now
(Monday 5:40pm Qld time), click on Digital Cameras / Canon,
it quite clearly says "Price $500" for the 300D/lens kit,
    with no mention of "deposit".

No doubt they'll change it soon, but that's a tad misleading
for anyone who isn't aware of the actual price. Wonder
    how they stand legally?

  6. I think they have fixed it...

"Out of stock - a few weeks waiting time expected
    $500 deposit
    to join our waiting list

    Price: $1750.00
    Deposit: $500.00"...

hehe I thought they'd done the typo thing too when I saw it.

Even if they had listed the price incorrectly, though, they're still not
under any obligation to sell it at their advertised price :)

and legally they do not have to offer the price. There would be an issue if
they were deliberately misleading but if it was a mistake, as it clearly was
.... they can't be forced to sell it to you at that price.

Yeah, but if you follow the link to proceed with the sale, it tells you
    that it's a deposit price.

CCC Camera House once had a problem with their online catalog - all of
their stock was listed as "$0.00" :)
They stand perfectly safely I think. They could put whatever price they
like on it - they're not under any obligation to proceed with the sale
at that price. Although I'm not a lawyer, it's something along the lines
of an 'offer to treat' rather than an 'offer of sale'. If they accept
your money, however, then that's another matter.

Previously when they first released the 300D they were offering it at
a similar 500 buck deposit. I just happened to forget about that :p

I'm more than happy to pay $1750.
In fact, I placed my order with DirtCheap for a 300D this afternoon.
Can't wait (although I guess I'll have to!)
