  2. A few random thoughts..

    http://www.kodak.com/US/en/digital/dlc/index.jhtml
    http://www.photographytips.com

For some nice articles and examples on the basics of getting a good
    image, try:
    http://www.ronbigelow.com/articles/articles.htm
(Skip the ones on blending until a bit later..)

    http://www.photo.net
...has some good stuff, but the articles may be a little dated. Check
out the best-of galleries for inspiration.

If you are into landscapes/panoramas, don't miss:
    http://www.charliebrownphotos.com/

When you get serious about the technicalities, try:
    http://www.normankoren.com
    http://www.clarkvision.com

For basics about scanning and resolution, try:
    http://www.scantips.com

For sites that have some good stuff, but tend to be, er.. a little
    opinionated, try:
    http://www.luminous-landscape.com
    http://www.kenrockwell.com

I'm sure I've missed lots, but they will get you started..
