Well? Carrigman
I went to buy a G5 and an older experienced salesperson at a well known photographic retailer told me to keep my money and stick with my G2 - it was better than both. I can certainly see what he meant having played with the G5 but of course many people seem happy with theirs, although you will see some conceding that 'the purple fringe problem can be worked around'. I'd quite like a G3, as it does seem to be an improvement in some areas over the G2. However, there are as many people stating many of these improvements are unnoticeable except on paper. The G5 shares many of the features and faults of the G3. I'd say the G5 is worth having bearing in mind on the Internet the prices are very close and the extra MP has to be worth something.
It's now pretty difficult to find a G3 on the internet as most dealers don't have it in stock. Jessops have it, but their advertised price is almost the same as G5's on the internet. The shop though will match an internet price if you take a print out in.
