One of my editor's at work is wanting to put together a demo reel. He is a
very creative person in shooting and editing.

Any suggestions as to what and what not to put in the reel?

Should there be or not be a section on the tape about him personally or
should that be in a cover letter?

    thanks for your input!

I would put that in the cover letter, the demo reel should not be more than
a couple minutes long with of course the best stuff in it. Depending on who
you're showing it too and what for. If it's for a specific project, then
try and keep to the theme of the project. If it's general viewing then
throw 5 min of your best stuff in with a few titles, and some good music.

Search around on http://www.2-pop.com or http://www.kenstone.net under the
    term Demo Reels

You should find a whole article I wrote on the subject that's gotten cross
posted to those and a bunch of other boards.

After dozens of published magazine articles, the Demo Reels piece still
generates more email response than anything else I've ever written. Go
    figure.
