    Point Hope Alaska

The oldest continually inhabited village or settlement in all of North America.

Life here on this one tiny spot of land can be accurately traced back to over 3000 years.

We are heading south (bottom of image) .. out to the ocean ice. 7 miles out, on the frozen Chukchi Sea. 200 miles above the Arctic cirlce in northwest Alaska. We are going out there for two whole months. to gather food. We live out there the entire time. These hunters sleep outside in temps of 30 below zero and much colder due to the strong North Wind.

This image was created @ midnight in mid May. This is home for the entire hunt 24 /7 right here. This is where these hunters hunt, sleep, wait, watch look and listen. we aer waiting out here for the animals to migrate.

19 Whaling Captains are spaced out along the ocean ice to gather food. this is the arctic. There are only 800 Inupiaq Eskimo's that live in the village. the next village is hundreds of miles away and there are no other people anywhere near us. the closest village north has 200 people if that. The village south of us has 300 people if that. The arctic is wide open empty spaces with no other people. but.. .. there are "things" that happen up here, that you will never believe.
