I have an EIO combined Firewire/USB2 card which is suddenly giving me
the message This device cannot start (code 10) in Device Manager. I'm
using Windows XP Pro. The card has been working fine in the past but I
have had this message on occasion before, usually after a computer
crash. In the past just a reboot or sometimes a Chkdsk has resolved
it, but this time no such luck.

I have tried the card in a different PCI slot with the same result. I
have even restored my PC to a previous DriveImage where I know the
card was working, but immediately on bootup I have the same message.

The card's USB sockets work fine, its just the Firewire that doesn't.
Trying to update the driver won't work as it uses the generic XP
drivers, and if I uninstall it in Device Manager, it just redetects it
and re-uses the generic XP driver again.

Is it likely to be a faulty card?
