My daughter wants to step up to an slr digital camera and she has a
number of lenses for her old Minolta X 700 35mm. Are there digital
cameras, Minolta or otherwise, out there (maybe second hand) that her
lenses would fit on? To give a little lens info one is a Kalimar 50mm
    f1.7 Minolta MD.

    Unfortunately not.
The only Minolta mount DSLR cameras were (and are) made in is the
Dynax/Maxxum AF mount, which is incompatible and not possible to fit
    Minolta manual focus lenses to.
Sadly, the only glimmer of hope for a Minolta manual focus DSLR camera
turned out to be an April 1st joke:

Seriously, read this page from top to bottom, it CAN be done.

Your daughter would need to have an Olympus digital body of
the Olympus 4/3 lens mount, and one specific lens adapter for
mounting MD lenses to it. Link to that is on the page of the above

Question for yourself, do you think it will be cost effective?
Not to mention loss of other functions such as open aperture
metering and auto exposure, etc, No one wants to stop the lens
down in order to meter a scene. Some people will for the sake
of the *quality* of specific lenses... things to consider.
