digital cctv cameras

Discussion in 'Video Cameras' started by John Mckenzie, Jul 21, 2003.

  1. I am thinking of installing a cctv pvr card in my computer and wonder if
anyone can point of the pros and cons of different types of external
cameras. I am at a loss to find out the difference between 1/3 ccd and 1/4
ccd cameras and would like some advice in general regarding what to buy.

A 1/3 inch CCD should, for an equivalent spatial resolution, be more
sensitive (ie less noise at lower light levels) than a 1/4 inch CCD.
Larger sensor = larger pixels = more photons per frame/field.
Dearer though, and possibly more expensive lenses.

    Just my tuppence worth
