Digital Photo Album Software for Portable storage devices

  1. Hi

    I have a external 30GB USB harddrive.
I would like to be able to have the photos catalogued in some way. I know
that I can get ACDSEE to catalogue them (ie who's in the photo, where the
photo was taken etc by using the acdsee database, however if i take the
external HDD from the computer that has ACDSEE installed to another computer
then i loose all that database.

Fair enough that i need to install acdsee on any other computer that i will
use the external HDD with, but how do i transport the database?

Is there a better or best program that will make the database transportable?

    Thanks,

PS if I'm posting this on the wrong newsgroup, can you let me know which is
    the most appropriate...

  2. I don't know ACDSee, but can't you store the db on the external HDD?
There are other programs that do a similar job to ACDSee, but the only
way you'll get freedom from needing the program installed on the other
machine is to embed the info in the images, using ICPT or suchlike. Of
course by doign this you sacrifice the speed advantages of a database.
