My buddy has the above scanner for around 6 months. It is connected to a
computer running xp home and worked fine until last month. When he tries
to scan it gives "error 101, unknown error" and the led on the scanner
    flashes 6 times and repeats.

I unistalled the driver and installed the latest version and there was
    no difference.

KonicaMinolta has no contact numbers available and only a web form for
submitting a support question. We submitted this two weeks ago. The next
day he got got an automated response back that they had received the
request but never received any other response.

Anyone have an idea what the flashing led pattern might mean or have
    contact information for KonicaMinolta?

I noticed this on the "message from the president page" and wonder if it
    also includes scanners:

"In January, we made the difficult decision to withdraw from the photo
imaging business. Photo imaging is a business that both companies began
with, and which both have long been engaged in prior to the Konica
Minolta integration. We at management made this harsh decision knowing
that it would be a very painful one, yet in doing so we aim to create
new corporate value. We will deal with various issues with profound
sincerity forward our customers and concerned people in the course of
    withdrawal."

Sony bought all of Minolta's photographic assets. I would contact Sony.
