    Howdy all,

I just dragged an old Digisuite system out of mothballs
and wanted to know where I can get a copy of Edit* 6.0
plus for it. Any help is appreciated.

I still have all my discs for United Media's Online Express if that''s
of interest. Just remove the 3 from my address to reply privately.

Thanks, but I'm looking for a specific software package that
runs on a specific hardware package. I already have both Speed-
Razor and Insight for it and as it turned out by the time I
had earned enough to pay Discreet Logic $12,000.00 for Edit*
plus they announced that they were discontinuing the product.

Similar situation here.  Online Express was one of the other packages specifically for the DigiSuite.  I loved it while it lasted.

just replied to other post, duh!

amazing how we can piss money out the door on software that dies so
rapidly. i played with speed-razor, and was on the verge of getting
insight but chickened out and went with the then de facto standard avid.

I still have incite running on a Digisuite Max I use it occasionally.
Sadly one of it's limitations is that it is a real broadcast spec tool.
Unfortunately too much of what I do lately is 720x480 not of 720x486.
I get bit in the ass in the conversion. It either gets squeezed or cropped.
Of course a simple squeeze scrambles the interlace, and cropping is
what you want. If the crop winds up off by a line the interlace gets
    reversed.
I never came up with a reliable workflow because it didn't come up enough.
It also used a proprietary compression format that doesn't play well with
    others.

  10. wow.. been a while since I've heard that name.. I had SR Mach (whatever) in
the 90s running on a DPS Perception card. I remember we lost a client
because it rendered SO SLOW that we missed our deadline. And it crashed more
than a drunken starlet. Only really used it because at the time the
Premiere / Perception system we had would not import the EDL.. It was,
perhaps one of the worst software experiences we ever had with a product.
I hope they died a quiet death.. or are they still around somewhere?

My experience is that they only sucked a little less than Premiere.
I think they suffered a lingering death. They, if memory serves,
were sold a couple of times. Finally, they were unable to find any
more investors. One of the reasons I bought Incite was they went
through a period that there was no development or bug fixes. Incite
worked great when it worked but was not very stable. It's my
understanding that the only software that really performed on the
"Full" Digisuite was Discreet's products. I loved using Combustion
and ended up so heavily involved with compositing that the Digisuite
was only used for lossless injest.

Wow, that's probably more than really you wanted to know. :)

  12. I loved using Combustion
    Not at all..

I still depend on Combustion often. Very cool.

Maybe my Speed Razor was crap because of the DPS Perception. Premiere was
    awesome with it.

well It's kinda sad to see any company hit the skids. All it takes is one
    bad programmer really!

still love Combustion though. I own Shake, AE and Motion but C* is the
    shit.

And maybe Speed Razor was just crap.
There are guys on the dpsEdits list still uisng a Perception card to
    this day.
Too bad that DPS sold out to Leitch who sold out to Harris.
Along the way several good products got dropped, never to be seen
    again :-(

David, if you do have the Perception card, post it on for sale on the
    dpsEdits list.
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DPSedits/
    I'm sure you'll find a buyer.
Feel free to contact me off-list with the details if you want me to
    post it for you.

  17. Yeah.. the Perception was a very dependable card. With the beta deck in the
studio and the Perception I had a nice little rig. I was able to sync it up
to the audio studio for scoring and cut videos with it.. very dependable.
Speed Razor was truly a terd though. Not sad to see them go out of business.
