Does EXIF tell if you used zoom?

Does any field in the EXIF data tell you if you shot the picture using optical
zoom? I see a couple of fields relating to digital zoom, but I want to know
if I used optical zoom, and how much.

Yes but it doesn't say if you inhaled.

  3. On my Fuji S2 it does -- if the lens reported that information (I can
mount old manual focus Nikon lenses on this puppy). But when I'm
using a modern lens (lens with chip), yes, it records the focal
    length.

Depends on the camera. My Canon Digital Rebel provides that
    kind of information.

The EXIF data from my DRebel not only includes which lens I used
(18-55mm or 75-300mm), but what zoom length the lens was at for that
shot. I'd say EXIF is *capable* of containing such data; the question
is whether the specific camera produces and embeds it.

  7. No, I'm saying that *with chipped lenses* the S2 reports the focal
    length used, including zoom lenses.
