dropped frames with Sony TRV350

    Hello all.

I am very very new to videocameras (never used one before today). I
just hooked up a Sony TRV350 to my computer via USB (dunno if the cam
uses USB 1.1 or USB 2.0), and am capturing from the cam tape to the
computer via Adobe Premiere. And am getting lots of dropped frames.

Should I really be using a IE1394 cable? I do have two IE1394
controllers -- one on my Soundblaster Audigy and one on my Asus P4PE
motherboard. I just haven't gotten around to picking up a 1394 cable
    yet.

Is USB too slow and is this why I am getting dropped frames?

I am capturing to a Western Digital 200GB 8MB-cache hard drive, and
there is nothing on it currently -- hence no fragmentation going on.
It's connected to a Promise TX-something PCI card.

    Thanks in advance.
