dropping video frames problem

    The dropping frames problem has gone. The problem is what happened to stop
    this problem.

    I thought I might have solved the problem when I disabled the index service
    for the internal hard drive.
    I also thought it might be when I turned off the Norton Internet security
    scanning of external devices option but it does not seem to be these things
    as I restored these options and had no problem with dropped frames.

    I suspect that there has been an Windows 8 update loaded in the background
    to fix some bugs which fixed the problem.

    I feed video into the usb port for 30 minutes with no dropped frames (apart
    from 6 dropped frames at the start of capture which is normal). The only
    thing I've installed on the computer since I last had dropped frames was
    Windows Live Essentials.
