Durst Glass Negative Carrier

Discussion in 'Darkroom Developing and Printing' started by Frank Calidonna, May 12, 2004.

  1. A friend just purchaced an 8x10 Durst enlarger. It came with a glass
carrier. He asked me if something was wrong with the glass as it seemed
a bit blurry. I looked at it expecting it to be etched or greasy, but it
does seem just a bit "unsharp" for want of a better term. Could this be
an anti-newton ring thing? It is clean and not etched. Both the top and
bottom glass have this quality. Is this normal or does he have a
    problem. Thank you.

You probably have it right. Some time spent closely observing the surfaces is
in order. Then a print or two.

FWIW Many glass negative carriers have only the top glass as AN.

Be careful with the galss though. I buy my share of it every year and it is
