Having problems with DV playback (Media player 9.0 & Adobe Premiere 6.5),
    getting message:

Adobe was unable to connect to the native Microsoft (TM) DV support. This
setting was designed to only work with an OHCI IEEE 1394 (Firewire/Link)
card with an approved Microsoft DV driver......
    Playback performance will be impacted.

This problem arose after installing a scanner USB and Microsofts Service
    pack 1.
Had no problems before with capture card. It is able to capture, but unable
to playback to video camera. Have tried uninstalling scanner, moved capture
card from one PCI slot to another. But error message comes up each time.
    Help.

  2. Go into hardware manager and report what it thinks the Firewire
card is. From the above it clearly doesn't think it is an OHCI
    standard one!

It *may* be that the wrong drivers have become attached to the
    card.

    Regards,
    Harry.

The 1394 card is 1394 FireWire PCI adapter Western and it should be ok...
Have also tried out ST Lab card - ending up with the same problem.
p.s. playback problems in MovieMaker2 and Premiere 6.5, not Media player...

  4. The snag is that 'should' and 'is' are not the same word!

I repeat... Go into hardware manager and report what it thinks
the Firewire card is. From your previous message it clearly doesn't
think it is an OHCI standard one! And note - I say *thinks* here. I
have seen a number of cases where it thought wrong, and needed a prod
    to get it right.

    Regards,
    Harry.
