    Hi,
Is it possible to find a DVD player that will play a DVD-R disc containing
    MPEG-VCD or SVCD files ?
in other words VCD/SVCD files with an .mpg extension (not the real VCD).
I've got several of these files and I would like to know if I can find
a solution to put them on DVD-R's and play them back easily .
Converting them to DVD files requires expensive software and is also
    time consuming.
I've had a look on the DVDhelp website and the DVD players reviews are
a bit confusing.Looks like some of them can play them fine for 30
minutes and then stop and stuff like that.
Also do I definitely have reconvert the sound ?
    What about this method :

If you know any other way please let me know.
    Thanks for your help.

If you live in the USA, then grab a CyberHome CH-DVD300S. They have them
at Best Buy (maybe sold out there) and Sam's Club for $39.95.

They will play straight SVCD and VCD MPEG files, authored VCD/SVCD, MP3
files, etc. And you can fast-forward and reverse thru the MPEG files,
unlike many Apex players. It supposedly has a region-free and a
macrovision hack, but I haven't tested that out as those features are
    unimportant to me.

It has composite, S-Video and component out.

People are reporting reliability issues which isn't surprising considering
the price, but I haven't had any with them.
