Easy DVD Creator 6, unusual problem

I recently used the drag & drop feature to copy some mpeg files to a DVD-r
using Easy CD & DVD Creator 6. Plays fine in my computer. But on my DVD
player, the disc opens with the menu of the files. And the first file is
split something like fifty or so times. And every entry of that file
contains about 2 seconds or so of video & sound! But this plays fine on my
    computer! Used windows xp, fwiw.

No idea what on earth is going on here. Has any body else had this happen to
them or a suggestion as to why this is happening?

    Thanks,

    Joe

This software [the Basic version] came with my newest
burner. I have not used this feature yet, but I am guessing
that your options were not set to 'finalize' the DVD. This
gives you multi-session recording capability, but severely
    limits the compatibility with players.

I don't know what is going on but I wanted to add a comment:

Just because something plays fine with your computer player software
does not mean that it will play well on set top boxes. Computer
software is usually a lot more forgiving.
