I have Sony's Screenblast Movie Studio. Until recently, I've been
converting all of my analog videos with a Dazzle DVC150. This works
well enough, but is time consuming and somewhat cumbersome. I recently
purchased Sony's VRD-VC20 to simplify the conversion process. I am
impressed with the unit's ability to convert my VHS tapes to DVD in one
or two steps. However, I still want to edit my video with Movie Studio.
It appears Movie Studio does not recognize the files created by the
VRD-VC20. Can I convert them somehow?

In the conversion to DVD, what you end up with is a series of VOB files
(plus a few more types as well), correct? This is what Movie Studio can't
handle. Others will suggest using Womble or some other tool to do the
editing but, IMO, your best bet (and cheapest too) is to upgrade to Vegas
MovieStudio+DVD. With this package, you'll be able to import the DVD and do
more editing. The upgrade price for you is only $40. Details at

  3. Try changing the file names from whatever.VOB to whatever.MPG.
    Works for me.

Heck .. go the extra 20 bucks and get the Platinum version upgrade for $60.
I just did it and am VERY happy.
