    Prelm newbie here:

I would like to take a portion of the audio track of a clip and save
it as an available peice of audio media (WAV. etc) for re-use. I know
how to split the clips, Ive actually even managed to render the entire
audio track as a piece of available media, but I cant figure out how
    to render just a portion.

I will be using this to take a section of audience applause in a
separate track and blend it between clips to provide continuity of
    wild sound.

also, while I have your attention...fade to black? is this done by
cross fading to a black clip? If so, can elements 3.0 create a black
clip or do I need to create one in photoshop?

    thanks

Probably he easiest way is to use Audacity (Freeware) to chop up the
exported.wav file and edit it any way you like

Don't know about PrEl 3, but in 2.0 I think the fade to black is done by
reducing the saturation to zero. You could also drop the opacity to
zero, as I think the underlying colour is black.

To create a black clip, use the title editor mode with a black
background and no text on it.
