Because it isn't? I was in a camera store the other day.
Guy at the counter said he'd been "studying" them for about a month.
Asks the counterperson for the Panasonic FZ-30 and then says, "Is it
an SLR?" Some people are confused about the subject and why wouldn't
they be, with the number of offerings out there? And don't forget,
many of these people have never owned a "system" camera before.

    Oh, gee, you're soooo smart!
You were, I can only assume, born with a light meter in one hand, and
a changing bag in the oth3er. Those poor neophytes haven't got a
chance, have they? And you, of course, never made such a rube mistake,
becasue you know it all. The rest of us just haven't a clue, and we
should all just fall down and thank you for deigning to speak to us.
Yes, sir, thank you sir, please tell us more about how dumb we are,
and about you are here to save us all from our lack of knowledge. We
sure are glad you were born with all this knowledge. Obviously, those
of us who spent time in classrooms learning he basics are just too
stupid to do anything without the benefit of your wisdom!
    Pray, continue...

Whatever he may be, if you were more like him it would be a
    tremendous improvement.

You're on a roll. But that's odd. Are you sure you don't see
others in your image? That description applies more to you.

I agree or disagree with arguments or positions based on the
merits. If you look carefully you might see that I recently both
agreed and disagreed with Rich's statements in different threads. I
might even agree with some of yours, despite the nearly universal
agressive, ignorant, juvenile, vulgar, offensive quality of your
posts. You probably don't care, but then I don't care whether you
    do or don't.

The FZ30 has a single lens, and the reflex is electronic, like almost all
    digital cameras.

    "David J Taylor"
You mean "non DSLR digital cameras," don't you?

  7. In the class discussed, not SLRs, obviously. I was trying point out why
the customer may have quite reasonably thought the camera was an SLR. It
certainly looks and feels like one. The lack of interchangeable lenses
would, perhaps, be a better distinction these days.

    Were you really amused?
Or was it a facade to disguise your true feelings?

Now you're just being dense. I don't care how you respond because
you too predictably play the obnoxious twit. Even some of those
that I usually strongly disagree with, and who occasionally approach
your boorish behavior only do so when they're agitated and trying to
defend what they honestly believe. So I care how *they* respond to
my replies, whether they agree with them or not. You on the other
hand, appear to be here mainly to make rude and vulgar comments
simply to try to annoy people. This behavior is not quite the same
as, but is similar to that of the insecure internet trolls that
exist only because they can take advantage of their anonymity.
Caring about how trolls respond to reason is as futile and
unproductive as caring how you will. This message appears in a
public forum, and if you think it was posted primarily to be read by
*you*, you're deceiving yourself. One of your own "white" lies?

There would BE no discussion if it were dishonest. It just rubs some
of you Canon weirdos the wrong way when any suggests something might
be wrong with one aspect of one item from your brand.

I'm not criticizing the guy for not knowing, I'm simply pointing out
that there ARE people who do not know.
