  1. ok I can't personally vouch for these guys as i havent bought from them, but
i have been aware of their web presence for a few years and i have no reason
    to doubt they are legit.

anyway they are apparently selling the excellent 10D for an amazing $2699...
wow. (bought mine in march for $3195)

thought someone might find this useful. me, i'm hanging out for an EOS-3D
    perhaps in september/october, fingers crossed

Which guys are these? - You haven't included any details. ;)

  4. I prefer those other guys, but only because they're local...

BTW, if you could share who the guys are, I know someone after a 10D
    right now...

I thought that was about going rate for a 550EX ? I think Photo
Continental got down to *just* beneath $1k before I decided to go for
the 420, and that was buying it with $4k+ worth of other gear...

Buying one from other countries is a whole 'nother story, mind you!

  8. whoops! sorry 'bout that (duh).

yeah it's those guys. who cares if it *is* a loss leader, as long as they
don't force you to buy accessories, just get the body and save $400 or more.
i've not seen such a good price locally anywhere anytime. i wonder if this
is partly to do with the rise of the $AUD??? or maybe canon is cutting the
    sell price, who knows?

anyway, i was surprised at how cheap they were.

actually its a grey market camera shipped from overseas, Canon Aust very
    pissed off with them

I didn't think it was. I've noticed that on a number of their cameras,
such as the Canon S50, or the Minolta F300, they are specifically
labeled as "international version" but the 10D is not. Still, at such
a low price I'd not be surprised.

  11. Hi Warren,

It's rife in the camera industry in general... the localized warranty
support with invoice as proof of warranty is one way Canon try to
limit the grey market gear... the real problem isn't the people that
admit it's grey and charge accordingly, it's the people that sell as
genuine Australian issue, and charge the same...

Heh. Things that piss off Canon Australia are usually things that are
very good for the consumer. I bought my 10D grey market from Hong Kong,
    & I didn't get /that/ good a price.
