    Not really.

    Sure. Like Canon.
Sure. Just like the iPhone now. And by the same kind of crowd.
    Thank you.
No. I don't see what's the point with large format other than for weird
perspective manipulations. As for 8X11, not really: I leave that sort of
    "quality" to modern p&s digital.

I guess we'll find that out when the camera actually becomes available. Just
for background, I'd point out that the new 24-70 lens, announced with such
fanfare several months ago, is still available only to selected fanboys. Even
the Canon site has only one (1) customer review.

And how long did it take before the 1DX was finally available? If it takes
them that long to accommodate a $7000 customer, how long do you suppose a
$2000 customer will have to wait?

Obviously, I could be wrong. If it comes to that, I'll admit it.

The 6D? No, I don't think so. I've got the FF itch out of my system for the
time being. And two things bother me about the 6D: It lacks the 5D3's AF
system; and my gut tells me it may also lack AF microadjustment, which
experience tells me is necessary to get acceptable performance out of some
    Canon lenses.

I really don't know where Canon is going. That's a general view among
    camera stores in the UK.

[The big news is that Canon abandoned trials of their 34.5 MP sensor
earlier this year and are currently trialling two sensors with much
higher MP. One is 46.1 MP and was tested at the 2012 Paralympics. Now
    that's what I call a response to the D800.]

Would those sensors be of any use in even a full frame camera?
It would seem to me that such a sensor adds cost without adding
    much photographic value.

On the other hand, on a larger frame camera it makes a lot of sense.

Agreed, but OTOH as long as there is no real downside (as there doesn't
appear to be with say D800 Vs 5D3 IMO) I can't see the benefit of paying
    more for less.

So which body, and what do you hope to gain over a D800?

What would be the point of a lager than FF sensor using an EF mount, since
the lenses would not give full coverage of the sensor?
I guess whoever invented the rumour didn't think it through.
Adding ability to use Dx lenses on a Fx camera is a different thing
altogether than a camera that is crippled for life!

  12. 46.1 full frame is the same pixel pitch as the 7D. I own
a 7D and assure that, across the whole frame using
FF lenses, the lenses are fully adequate. The results are great.
Now, at the corners of a full frame, some will not be perfect
for that pixel pitch. But over the whole frame they will be adequate.

  14. You, Sir, are a perfect idiot/stupid combo.

You're even too stupid to read what others write.

You've got an infinitely long way, then. The sooner you start
walking, flying, teleporting or FTL travelling, you'll be underway
    the same time.
    That was the point.
Ah, you're not even interested in full frame?
    Then why do you post?

By the measure of a toddler, a week ago is an awfully long
    time, too.

    Canon sells film stock?

The iPhone uses 35mm film? Do tell!

    And now learn your manners.

It's the same point that is made for medium format, only it's
    much stronger.
Ah, a snob without proper understanding.

No, *you* do pissing on others, shitting into wells and hurting
people. All in the name of you not doing religion. Do you even
know of a definition for the word "morals"?

  15. I guess you are now grasping at straws.
"selected fanboys": people who would look at amazon(!) or a large
    motar&brick photography chain?

(The green arrow says: immediately available)

Even lensrentals do have them in apparently large enough
numbers (and they don't have any sweet deals with Canon,
apart from a 'huge lump sum for some percentage on repairs
and being billed monthly for them' deal):
    https://www.lensrentals.com/rent/canon/lenses/normal-range/canon-24-70mm-f2.8l-ii

Come on, you need to learn how to use good price comparison sites!

Which goes to show that that means very little.

    79 years.

Ah, so you are saying that all, or at least all recent cameras
in the $2000 class were late by a much larger amount than the
    $7000 1DX?

    Could you cite examples?
The best way would be for you to preorder a 6D, so you're reminded
    in time.

  16. See D800. It's just the same there. 13% more resolution (at
best) than the D800 does not change the base problem.
Sure, but then you need new lenses, too. And then you could just
as well go medium format all the way.
