Canon just updated their website with info on the US version of the
    300D...

    Press release:
    http://www.usa.canon.com/templatedata/pressrelease/20030820_digitalrebel.html

    Camera website:
    http://www.canoneos.com/digitalrebel/index.html

Nothing different from the Europe/Japan announcements posted earlier,
but I thought word on the US version might be of interest to some
    people.

The EF Lens site has also been updated to include the new EF-S 18-55mm
3.5-5.6 and the EF 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 II USM, both of which appear to
    be cheap-o all-plastic designs, unfortunately.

I've told you before - it's to cater for a Microdrive
    ;-)

I think it's expressed that way just so that people can compare it with
    real motordrives.

Perhaps it drives the electron pump? The electrons need to get from the
sensor to the media somehow :)
