epson 4990 v canoscan 9950

    seen both these scanners. any owners out there have comments?

    cheers. The only critic levelled at the canon was the scangear software.
    Since then the canon site they are supplying siverfast. Looks like they
    took notice.

    It also looks like the epson is easier to use and yields good results even
    for beginners. Canoscan gear was a bit quirkier. Then again the canon is
    said to pull out shadow detail better. Ever so slightly sharper too. I
    currently use a minolta scan elite II. Not bad but terminally slow.

    I do all the post processing in photoshop except dust and scratch, so i
    don't know how much of an issue canoscan and silverfast etc are.
    Also it doesn't do 120 and 5x4. Does the epson do 10x8? IF it can do 5x4
    x2 i would have thought 10x8x1 is possible.
