I have problems with the first start up of my new Perfection 2480 flat
    bed scanner.

After installing of the software, restarting of the comp and plugging of
the scanner it is impossible to start up the device. It makes only
buz-buz and the note "EPSON Scan cannot be started" appears. It's likely
the driver doesn't cooperate with either computer or scanner. I tried
reinstall it 1000 times, checked cables, connections, I installed new
driver downloaded from the net etc. But helpless :-(

    Any suggestions, please?

Can it be that your system doesn't meet the min requirements for the
scanner? Judging from the second post your system is probably pretty
    old...

And a word of warning: USB 1.1 is a huge pain in the ass for high res
scanning. It takes about ten years and a day for a 3200dpi full sized
scan of a 35mm color negative.

  4. I would suspect a USB problem.

    Try installing updated USB drivers.

If that doesn't work, beg, borrow or steal a USB 2.0 card.

I tried today to run the scanner software on WinXP and USB (?).
Everything worked well. I suspect the USB. But the film scanner does its
job well on my system. We'll see...
