External flash won't fire on DRebel

    My Sunpak PZ4000AF won't fire on my Canon DRebel. It works fine with my EOS
    Elan 7E. Can anyone help?

    Does the flash do E-TTL metering? Because that's all the DRebel will
    use.
    The Elan can use A-TTL because it has film for the relected light to be
    measured during the exposure. For obvious reasons, A-TTL won't work with
    the DRebel.

    Can you switch the flash to manual? It ought to work then, albeit with
    the camera also in manual.

    My A-TTL Canon 300TL will not fire on my E-TTL 10D. Wrong technology.
