    Which fairly modestly priced, external (shoe mounted) optical viewfinder;
    would the assembled photographers chose for themselves? Thanks for any
    advice.

    For what focal length(s)?

    The Voigtländer range includes a selection of focal lengths, and they
    are all optically good.

    There is also the Soviet-made "turret" viewfinder which offers 28mm,
    35mm, 50mm, 85mm and 135mm focal lengths and sells used on eBay for
    around £50 - £60. It is based on a Carl Zeiss design and is well made
    by former Soviet standards.
