Good. Now could someone enlighten me about "shoot ins"?
    Are rank amateurs allowed?
    I see an SI "committee".
    Who, what are they?
    many thanks again.

  5. Alan Browne. That's "Brown" with an "e". Not exactly "Bond, James Bond" but
we're running on a budget here.

For example, we'll shake our fingers at you if you suggest that there should
be a FAQ or a Moderator.

The "committee" references are a joke. Alan Browne is currently the
one who does the heavy lifting in deciding on the mandate, receiving
submissions, and posting them to the PBase website. Since his efforts
are largely unappreciated, we've allowed him to assume the title of
"Committee". (We offered "Supreme Commander", but he opted for
"Committee" in a rare - very rare for him - stroke of modesty.

Most, if not all, of the submitters are amateurs. I don't know of any
that earn a living selling their images. One earns income taking
photographs for the city in which he lives, but not from the type of
    photographs seen in the Shoot-In.

Some of the photographs submitted have been rather rank, though.

If you choose to participate, you are welcome to do so. Just open the
"Rulz" page and follow the rules.
http://www.pbase.com/shootin/rulzpage Watch it, though, since Alan
sometimes gets a wild hair and changes a rule. He posts current
changes as messages in the newsgroup.

It's intended to be that. Ignore the nay sayers and enjoy. Don't worry
about equipment. I have posted images taken with my iPhone.
