Fedex Issues and complaints..

    I remember reading on rpd a while back a Fedex vs. UPS war.. Anyway I
    had a few questions to ask.

    Both Fedex and UPS leave packages at my door without any signature at my
    new apartment. Both fedex and UPS did this when it was raining heavily.
    UPS wrapped the package up in a big plastic bag but Fedex just left it
    out in the rain. I got a completely soggy fedex box. Contents (SD
    memory) were perfectly fine luckily because they were in those
    unopenable plastic packs.

    So I called up Fedex to complain and Fedex says that they leave all
    packages at the door unless the sender specifically says signature
    required. I ordered the package in question from newegg.com and I want
    to know if anyone is aware about them having no signature required by
    default. Otherwise I'm in good mind to claim that the package never
    reached and hope that it will keep them from throwing stuff outside my
    door and running off..

    TIA for any advice and suggestions what I can do about this.

    BEcause this has beem discussed before here and because this is the ng
    with the fastest response to anything and because I ordered stuff for my
    digital cam.. And if you have problems with it then just ignore the
    message. Your abuse was most uncalled for you f***ing peice of shit..

    Fedex requires a signature by default, and only waives that requirement
    if you file a signature release with them.
    Yeah, commit fraud. Good idea.

    ok FUCKING POS in caps: Here is some information for you:

    Shipping issues regarding different products from different vendors have
    been discussed in all sorts of groups ranging from alt.coffee to
    rec.music.makers.guitar.acoustic

    So if I have shipping issues with digital cam related products then this
    group is where I would think of first.

    And if you think this is not the place for it, instead of sending abuse
    to my email box, you could have simply routed follow-ups to a relevant
    group ASSHOLE or ARSEHOLE however you wish to be spelt.

    Thanks thats what I wanted to know. I will fire Fedex today.
    I already sent out an email complaint and I will definitely also
    complain about the guy on the phone.

    That does not apply to FedEx ground shipments (and possibly air, I'm not
    100% sure) to residential addresses. If you want a signature for a
    residential address, you need to pay a couple of dollars extra.

    Of course, they also offer (for a fee) some really nice services for
    residential deliveries, such as scheduled deliveries (specific day or
    even specific time).

    FedEx used to require a signature to deliver stuff but last week I had a
    couple of packages sent via FedEx and both times they threw the box over
    a 10 foot gate outside between two buildings (I live in the building
    behind). I mean, at least someone without the key to the gate couldn't
    steal them, but what if the stuff inside had been fragile? Airborne
    Express did this also, after I gave specific instructions as to whom
    they could leave the package with, and the package was destroyed by rain
    but thank goodness the stuff I ordered was sealed in plastic. FedEx's
    tracking system leaves something to be desired as well. There is a big
    delay (a few hours) between when the package is scanned or put on a
    truck and when that info gets put online.

    UPS has been good for me because I have got to know the driver and he
    knows that he can deliver to my neighbours if I'm not in. If they aren't
    in he'll leave a note, and not just throw the package somewhere. Even if
    it's not the usual driver they'll never leave it without a signature.
    UPS's tracking is much better also. As soon as a package is scanned or
    delivered or whatever, it's on their tracking webpage immediately.

    I think the next time I order from a company that routinely ships FedEx
    I'll ask for an alternate shipping method and explain why. If they get
    to know how their merchandise is treated on the way to their customers
    they might decide to switch to a different carrier. You might wish to do
    this too.

    Of course with no signature the carrier has no proof that the package
    was delivered intact or even delivered at all.

    You could leave a note on your door giving a neighbour's address to
    deliver it to or else arrange with the shipping company beforehand to
    deliver to an address where someone will definitely be in. If your
    employer allows it you could have it delivered to your work.

    Wow! I'm never sending anything uninsured again.. At work Fedex
    delivered 2 PCs broken, one with a seriously battered Hard disk and one
    with a Video card snapped in two inspite of putting these in their
    original packing.. One would think they airdrop packages at fedex
    stations so they don't have to land too often..
    Yeah UPS is better here too. The package they wrapped in plastic was the
    camera. At my old apartment they would deliver after 5 if noone is there
    for the first delivery in the afternoon.
    Yeah though I doubt things are different overall.
    Yeah that's what I assumed.
    Thats what I'll do..

    Well as far as I can tell, they would have had no proof of delivery
    except this ng conversation..

    Anyway I called and put in my complaint and asked them not to leave
    packages at door without making them environemtn proof. Though I'm going
    to avoid ordering stuff by fedex as far as possible.

    My Laptop shuttled up and down from Alaska to China and back :)
    It was supposedly second day air and it took a week, still arrived
    before HPs expected ship date so I wasn;t complaining..
