I am trying to reduce the size of jpg by going to image size and
lowering the number of pixels. My Mac is showing me that the jpg is
8KB but when I go to Image Size it says that the size is nwo 42KB
under pixel dimensions. Why is it not the 8KB that it should be?

  2. Probably: The 8KB is the compressed size, while the 42KB is the uncompressed
    size.

Looks like overhead of some kind. That depends on the program,
in photoshop use 'Save for web' and you get a clean jpeg.

I am trying to save a number of files in batch. Am I able to 'save
for web' when i create a new action? I try to add that after I resize
but it doesnt seem to work.

I am trying to reduce the size of jpg by going to image size and
The "image size" co0mmand shows you the UNCOMPRESSED size of the image. The
JPEG file is COMPRESSED. When you save the image as a JPEG file, it will no
    lobger be 42K.
