I'm planning to buy the Nikon D40 sometime this weekend and playing with it for an air show, but i've been reading about various filters to put on it, quantaray, Hoya, B + W, etc., but i've been reading mixed reviews about filters. Now i'm new to SLR's in general but should I invest in a filter now? and if so, what filter would you prefer. I know about filters degrading the quality of the picture, but I'm looking for a filter that wouldn't degrade the quality as much as a cheapo Sunpak would. I've heard positive things about the Hoya Pro1D or something thereabouts, but you can't find them in physical stores like Ritzcamera or best buy. I know that Ritzcamera has the Quantaray, but is the quantaray a good equivalent to the Hoya, and if not, should i go ahead and buy the quantaray as a temp filter?
