FinePix 3800 problem

Discussion in 'Digital Cameras' started by Richard Evans, Oct 29, 2004.

  1. I turned on my FinePix 3800 the other day and all it did was beep at
me. I couldn't see anything through the viewfinder, and the zoom
didn't work. As long as it was turned on, it kept intermittently
    beeping and humming at me.

I changed the batteries and it worked for about six pictures, then
started doing the same thing again. I changed batteries yet again, and
now I can see through the viewfinder and take pictures, but the zoom
doesn't work. The mechanism hums, but the lens doesn't move.

Any idea what's wrong? Any idea where to get it fixed? Naturally, I
had just sprung $100 for a new 256mb card when the thing crapped out.

  2. Hi Rick,

I don't know, but mine is starting to exhibit some of the same
symptoms. It's almost 2 years old now and I've taken thousands of
pictures with it. Hopefully it's not going belly up!

Let's hope someone in this group knows...

  3. Mine is about two years old too, but has seen very little use. I'd
count the photos in the low hundreds, tops.

  4. I took it to Wolf Camera today and they said they could send it off
for about $127, but wouldn'tcha know, it worked fine when I tried to
show the clerk what it was doing.
