Thinking about using the FireStore Direct Camera Mount Hard Drive Recorder.
Anybody using it?? I would appreciate feedback. I would be using Vegas Video.

    thanks,

  2. I work for a major video gear reseller. The version shipping as OEM
with the JVC GY-DV5000U cameras is GREAT. You can tell the unit what
format to capture in (OMF - for Avid, DV, AVI, etc) and it will record
it to the hard drive in that format.

The drives themselves are removable and have 2 firewire ports on the
drive cases. They are notebook sized drives so you can carry them in
your shirt pocket if you like, take them to your editor and plug them
directly in. If you captured to the right format for your editor
software, you just copy the files to your main system and edit. No
    conversion on import.

This is speaking specifically about the version shipping with the JVC
cameras however. They are very similar. Check with your local
dealers for full information on the units.
