Firmware Upgrade for Canon Powershot S1 IS

Discussion in 'Canon' started by Andrew Morris, Jul 25, 2004.

  1. Can anyone tell me exactly what is in the new firmware version, and how I
tell if I need it or not?

Having worked in the computer industry for all my working life, I've seen a
lot of bad firmware versions, and am always keen to research them before
installing, but unable to find a laymans version of the changes...

    Cheers,

    Andrew

As you can read above, (i just noticed this myself), now you can actually
see heppening while focusing is in action, while before picture was frozen
for the time of focusing. Which firmware you have is seen when you open CF
cover - if you have small black dot in there, you have latest firmware.

We're about ready to chuck ours. After almost four months
of use we've reached the conclusion that Canon should have
put a larger sensor in this camera -- purple fringing is a major
problem and appears in the majority of our images, in places
where it shouldn't. If we do keep the S1 it'll only be for its
    movie mode.
