Flash Adapter For Minolta

Discussion in 'Minolta' started by Dean Childrey, Jan 12, 2004.

  1. My old Minolta Maxxum 5000 finally died so I am looking to buy the Minolta
Maxxum 5 so that I can use my old lenses and flash unit. I have an old
Minolta Maxxum Flash unit (2800AF) and wonder if it will work on the newer
Minolta cameras such as the Minolta Maxxum 5. I see that Minolta makes an
adapter model FS-1100, its description says that my flash with this adapter
will work on si,xi and i series Maxxums but doesn't say anything about
cameras such as the Maxxum 5. The description says I will also lose the
flashes AF illuminator with the use of the adapter. Can anyone give me any
    information about this?

    Thanks,
    Dean

    Good idea!

    With an adaptor, it will.

    That's right.

It will also work with the current Maxxum series.

That's right, too. You my also consider to buy a pre-owned
Minolta flash unit from a later series, e. g. the 3200i or the
3500xi or similar ... anything with the new proprietary flash
hot shoe that will directly fit the newer Maxxum cameras.
